What to do in summer at Malga Lessinia

The area around Malga Lessinia offers numerous activities to do in spring, summer and autumn. The many paths in the area are frequented by hikers, Nordic walkers and mountain bikers, who can follow circular routes on dirt and asphalt roads with moderate gradients and refreshment points along the way.

 

Some of the recommended excursions include the route from Passo Fittanze to Malga Lessinia (12.5 km with a difference in altitude of 300 metres), the ‘malghe alte’ ring between Erbezzo and Ala (8 km with a difference in altitude of 300 metres), and from Malga Lessinia to Rifugio Podestaria (14 km with a difference in altitude of 480 metres).

Malga Lessinia is a popular refreshment point as it can be easily reached by any means of transport and is located at the centre of numerous trails, including the Alta Lessinia Equestrian Trail, which crosses the Lessinia Regional Nature Park in its northern sector on the border with Trentino Alto Adige.

For mountain bike enthusiasts, there are two interesting routes: the Gran Tour dell’Alta Lessinia, a ring that crosses the territory between Erbezzo and Bosco Chiesanuova, with ascents and descents on asphalt and dirt roads; and the Translessinia Bike, a long and demanding itinerary that crosses many of the most significant localities of the Lessinia Plateau.

The Translessinia Bike covers fifty-four kilometres, thirty of which are on dirt road, with an elevation gain of 1,400 metres. It passes through various contrade and malghe, such as Scioster, Ongar, Coletta, Biancari, Tander, Bernardi, Sale, Malga Malera, Malga Parparo di sopra, San Francesco and others, before returning to Bosco Chiesanuova.
